I Can See My Closet Floor From Here!

Ooook, while I haven’t yet gone through my shirts as I previously promised, I have made the floor of my closet visible.

Progress!

See, it’s been all junked up with shoes, shoeboxes, crafting stuff I was randomly given, a pillow I don’t want, a blanket I’m trying to keep my dog off of, a paper bag full of men’s ties I’d like to sew something with someday, and a couple other small boxes of weird stuff (including the little notepads hotels leave on the desks in their rooms… I collected those??).

Here’s the before:

Not for the faint of heart.

Shameful.

So I cleaned it out, filled 2 big plastic tubs with stuff I don’t want, organized the shelves, and am pretty proud of the result:

Stacking shoe boxes counts as "cleaning."

Saltillo tile! Who knew?!

Now when I decide to go through all my shirts I’ll actually be able to enter my closet to get to them! :)I’m not alone in this, right? Does anyone else out there use their closet as a storage room for miscellaneous stuff?

  1. To be honest with you, I don’t even have a closet in my bedroom! When we build our house, I said to my hubby “no closets in the house, I don’t want to have an excuse to hide my stuff!”. And it’s been a blessing, even if my mom disagreed… Anyway, if you read my post about minimalist wardrobe, I downsized my clothes to about 3 drawers and intend on going for 2! I’ll keep you posted!

No closets?! That’s incredible! Once or twice a year I try to get rid of clothes but rarely end up letting go of anything at all. This year I’m hoping to make a big change and keep only the items that make me look great. There’s no excuse to wear things that do nothing for me – even workout and yard work clothes can be flattering. I definitely look forward to finding out more about your lifestyle with so few belongings!
